Development and Marketing Assistant
Full Time
Responsible for providing clerical support for the development and marketing departments. Primary responsibilities are data entry and the production of small mailings. Also maintains donor/vendor files, prepares fund-raising materials and acknowledgment letters as necessary, and coordinates meetings.
Position Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or a minimum of two years post high school education in administration, communications, or general arts and sciences, including two years of experience in a professional environment. One or two years of experience in The Raiser’s Edge preferable.
Customer Service Representative
Full and Part Time
Responsible for giving accurate information on the telephone and in personal contacts, and in entering accurate information into the Science Center's computer system. This person must be sales/customer oriented.
Position Qualifications: Minimum high school graduate. One to two years post high school education preferable. Experience in a professional office environment, including answering the phones and data entry. Sales and light clerical skills desirable.
Gift Shop Assistant Manager
Full Time
Responsible for assuming the manager's duties in his/her absence. Performs or oversees daily opening and/or closing operations and is responsible for in store operations, including receiving, inventory management, restocking and display. The Assistant Manager must be knowledgeable of all Louisville Science Center activities.
Position Qualifications: High School diploma is required; 1-2 years post high school education preferred. Minimum 1-3 years retail or related experience in store operations. Experience with processing invoices, handling cash, and data entry. Basic computer knowledge. Must be professional, self motivated, energetic, dependable and honest.
Director of Education
Full Time
Responsible for overseeing the quality of all science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) educational programs conducted by the Science Center for the preK-Grade 12 audience. The incumbent ensures that participants with diverse needs can engage in a wide range of high-quality programs that are appropriate for both school-based and after-school audiences.
The Director of Education serves as the Science Center’s instructional leader and oversees a robust series of teacher professional development experiences that integrate best practices in inquiry learning with interactive science teaching methodology. The incumbent is responsible for fostering both regional and national educational partnerships. Strategic planning for future innovative programs is a high priority, while grant writing and reporting, and program evaluation are also key activities.
Position Qualifications: Masters degree in education, science or related field; with certification in K-12 education, required. Advanced certification, Ed.D., or Ph.D., preferred. Minimum 10 years progressive experience in the formal education sector including the field of school administration, teacher preparation, curriculum development, or in a similar related field or in informal science education program management. Supervisory experience is required.
Minimum three years of classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level, or in education administration, curriculum development or teacher training at the K-12 or university/college level. Position requires a flexible (weekend) work schedule.
IMAX Projection Engineer
Part Time, weekends
Responsible for running film, tape and discs through the Science Center theatre's multi-million dollar projection and sound equipment on an hourly basis, and for correct synchronization of picture with sound in order to provide patrons with flawless presentations with continuous monitoring.
Position Qualifications: Minimum high school graduate (or equivalent): 1-2 years post high school education preferred. Minimum of two years professional experience in audio-visual, mechanical or electrical technologies.
