Family Science Drop-In Event: Nuts and Bolts

Hands-on robotics activities, demonstrations and Robots: The Interactive Exhibition.

Don't miss this!
Sergeant Barry Denton, from the Louisville Metro Police Department bomb squad, will show families how the LMPD's bomb-sniffing robot operates, searches and collects suspicious material for the police department to investigate. Engineers of Tomorrow, based in Oldham County, will bring its competition robot to the event. Engineers of Tomorrow is part of the FIRST Robotics Competition, which encourages high school students to learn skills including computer-aided design and machining.

Activities include "Rodney's Spare Parts Garage," where you can make a junk bot and learn the importance of recycling; "Sensors/Senses," which explores how robots see, hear and think; "Machines," where you'll discover what every good robot is made of as we explore gears and circuits; and "Bristle Bots," where you can make your own robot from a toothbrush and see if it can master a maze! We'll also teach you the basics of robot communication and how scientists program robots to complete tasks.

Cost: $10 Members/$12 Non-Members (Children & Adults)
Add-an-IMAX: $5 Members, $7 Non-Members
