The World Around Us

Journey to Planet Earth

If your experience in The World Around Us has piqued interest in the environment, tune in to your local PBS channel for Journey to Planet Earth, an eight program series that explores the fragile relationship between people and the world they inhabit. The series is produced by Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Marilyn and Hal Weiner in association with South Carolina ETV.

A common thread runs throughout all eight programs - the very real necessity to achieve a balance between the needs of the environment and the needs of earth's inhabitants. Loss of farmland to urban development, the pollution of the earth's rivers, and inadequate housing and water resources for those living in the world's mega-cities are some of the topics covered in Journey to Planet Earth.
