Whitney Young Scholars in Science (WYSci)

7 <p>Whitney Young Scholars in Science (WYSci) is an informal science, math and technology program designed to positively affect the learning of seventh-graders who are socioeconomically disadvantaged, yet academically talented. This is a partnership program with the Lincoln Foundation.</p><p><b>Program objectives:</b></p><ul><li>Deepen understanding of basic science, math and technology concepts and processes and their relevance to daily life. </li><li>Increase interest in participating in science, math and technology learning opportunities and in exploring related career paths. </li><li>Encourage parents' understanding of the importance of science, math and technology and their support for their children's interest in related activities. </li></ul><b>Program Description</b> <br />The major component of the program involves WYSci Scholars visiting the Science Center on 18 Saturdays for three-hour sessions during the school year.<br /><br />Each three-hour Saturday session includes Scholar participation in exhibit exploration, demonstrations, experiments and presentations.
