This community-wide program is coordinated by Metro United Way for children entering kindergarten in August 2011. Get ready for school with some messy science fun and get excited about reading in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition. Free for children wearing a 2011 Kindergarten Countdown tee-shirt and one accompanying adult. Add-an-IMAX: $5 Members, $7 Non-Members
Activities
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. “It’s Attractive!” – Nothing sticks more than a magnet. This station allows children to explore the world of magnetism developing a better understanding of physical objects and their properties.
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. “Remote Control Car Track”: Kids can practice hand-eye coordination and positions as they manipulate remote controlled cars!
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. “The Body and Obstacle Course”: Staying healthy and fit are essential life lessons that early learners are expert at. Foods, nutrition, physical fitness, physiology and even math can be introduced through awareness of the body and how it works.
12-4 p.m. Messy Afternoons, featuring “Water World” and “Touchy, Feely, Mucky, Messy” – Sensory awareness is a minute-by-minute discovery for young children who love to touch, test, mix, mess, mash, compare, contrast, smell and smash.
