Shark Week 2011

Daily Activities, July 31-August 6
All activities listed are free for members and free with paid exhibit admission for non-members, which is $13 for adults and $11 for children 2-12.

Be sure to add the IMAX film Sharks to enhance your Shark Week visit! Combo tickets, which include Sharks, are $18 for adults and $16 for children.

Special discounts: The first 200 people to purchase exhibit admission on site at the Science Center on Sunday, July 31, will receive a free ticket to the IMAX film Sharks, showing at 2 p.m. that day. “Wheel of Senses”
Demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Chemistry Kitchen (2nd floor)
"Pat, I’d like to buy a vowel. H_w well can sharks really smell bl_ _d?" Join us as we determine how shark senses compare to human senses.

“Shark Anatomy” 
Drop-in Activity from 1 to 3 p.m., BioLab (3rd floor)
The dorsal fin is connected to the what again? Drop by and see a real shark specimen and learn about shark anatomy.

“Chew On This” 
Drop-in Activity from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Discovery Gallery (2nd floor)
Some are designed to bite and chew. Some designed for tearing or ripping…others still for grinding. They are teeth and we all have them (or used to…). How do our teeth compare to those of a shark? Are there any other animals with teeth like a shark's?

“Bracket of Dangers”
Drop-in Activity from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 1st floor Lobby
Test your knowledge of the everyday dangers humans face. How do injuries caused by shark attacks compare to car accidents or lightning strikes?

Thursday, August 4, and Saturday, August 6, from noon to 4 p.m. only
“It’s All In The Family” Drop-in Activity
Are sharks related to fish? Do sharks have cousins? Join us as we take a hands-on early childhood spin on classification systems.
