How can you get your students excited about science? The Louisville Science Center's annual Teacher Institutes are packed with ideas that will inspire your students with the possibilities of science! The Teacher Institutes offer new, engaging science lessons that can be replicated in the classroom. Learn how to introduce basic scientific tools that provide a solid foundation for science education. Explore inquiry-based investigations that encourage curiosity. The Teacher Institutes are full activities that will make teaching science easy and fun! The Early Childhood Teacher Institute helps educators of chldren ages 2 through 7 find new and innovative ways to present science topics. Topics include building science learning centers, exploring force and motion, and using science to spark interest in other areas of discipline. The Elementary and Middle School Teacher Institute helps educators of students in grades 3 through 8 develop innovative, hands-on ways to cover science concepts while stimulating student learning. Topics include environmental science, vision and exercise testing, states of matter, and force and motion. The workshops are based on Kentucky Core Content for Assessment. Jefferson County Public Schools approve each day of workshops for six hours of in-service credit. Check back for the dates of the 2007 Teacher Institutes.
