Healthy Living Day: January 6 The New Year's resolutions are in and healthy living has topped the charts! Participate in hands-on healthy living activities and pick up tips on how to make exercise and eating healthy more enjoyable. Healthy Living Day is sponsored by MedTrackAlert, Louisville-based publisher of news about prescription medications for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, ADHD, and high cholesterol.
Mummy Day: January 20 Learn more about the Egyptian mummy on display in the Science Center's Discovery Gallery. Meet the scientists and engineers who meticulously crafted a 3-D rendering of the mummy's skull, based on more than 200 CT scan images.
Engineering Day: February 10
Have you ever asked, "How do they do that?" Whether it's building a bridge across a mighty river or making a dishwasher run quietly, it's all about engineering. Meet local engineers and try your hand at various engineering challenges.
Dental Health Day: February 17 Open wide! Learn how to keep your teeth and gums healthy and participate in hands-on sessions that promote good oral health for the whole family. Local scientists, dentists and dental students will be on hand.
Brain Awareness Day: March 17 Examine a sheep brain to learn about the parts of a human brain and explore how the nervous system works during this celebration offered as part of National Brain Awareness Week.
Aviation Day: March 31 Participate in interactive activities that explore principles of physics, such as Newton's Laws of Motion and the Bernoulli Principle. Local pilots, meteorologists and air traffic controllers will be on hand to discuss their careers.
DNA Day: May 19 Build a DNA model representing a gene you design. Extract DNA cells from your own cheek, perform the process of gel electrophoresis and participate in other hands-on activities in the BioLab.
Weather Day: June 16 Learn the science behind everyone's favorite conversation topic: the weather! Find out how weather patterns determine climate, meet some of the experts who predict our weather, and do some of your own predicting.
